l think the main reason, players bat with one hand & bowl with the other, is because they r capable of batting & bowling with both hands, but they choose the one which is the most comfortable.

Like me playing Golf for example, i'm right handed but l feel more comfortable playing with my left.

Well everybody bats and bowls its just that their playing role is either a batsmen or a bowler and they are not so good at the other that is why it says that they can only do one in strange occasions these players that do not have bowling as a playing role do bowl did you know that mark boucher once bowled in a test against the west indies and took a wicket you can see his profile and even ab de villiers has bowled and taken wickets both are not classfied as bowlers but have bowled

yes, it is weired, l know a 7 years old left handed but can bat both sides, both sides can be very useful if he gets tired or if he feels like batting either side.. another left handed boy can bowl both side too. they are not the only weired ones

Intresting, l guess thats how the players prefer to play & it makes them play better. l wish Hussey & Hayden would bowl more often, l love seeing other players bowl that dont usually bowl.
