He was leading from front in the first 2 Tests and was looking good in the 3rd Test before he got his finger injured.

It is a huge blow to SA, now all they can think of is a draw, and when that mind set sets in you lose the match. Over all, l will be happy to be in Ponting is shoes than Boucher's.
