David Warner will play his first one-day international on Sunday after being picked to replace Micheal Clarke, who was ruled out of the South Africa series with a thumb injury.

Why did they play Clarke last night if they knew his thumb was still troubling him?
Another case of the selectors stuffing up AGAIN?..

Clarke played in the three-wicket loss to South Africa at the MCG, but the injury got worse and was told to rest for two weeks. The team physio, said Clarke experienced pain while making 19 and it was the first time since hurting his right thumb that he had performed without an injection.

It just shows that at least Hayden had the right idea when he retired. He felt his form was not up to staying on. Why can not the selectors show such maturity.

We have a test series against SA coming up and an Ashes series. There was no way the selectors should have risked a player carrying an injury.

Why did they play Symonds in Melb when he was crook ?? l think they are taking the players word on the fitness issue, perhaps they should be listening to the medicos a bit more, yes they have stuffed up again!!

Clarkey, Clarkey, clarkey. Players should not rush themselves (or the selectors for that matter) back in to the team if they still have an injury.
l know from personal experience it only makes it worse and in the end you miss more cricket then expected!!

Although Clarke is a loss to the team now Australia has 2 proper openers because l did not really see Hussey as an OD l opening batsmen!

Why did the selectors pick hem if he was not ready. They need to be sacked.

Do not know why the selectors pick Clarke in the first place ,think it is about time EGOS are kept in the kit bag and pick players who can win games. l do think Clarke has had a below par season

Something is wrong. Brett Lee and Stuart Clarke played whilst injured in India, Brett Lee again and Andrew Symonds did it in Australia and now M.Clarke. Obviously the selectores have no faith in the replacements at hand. It really is time to clean out the cupboard, starting with that taitor A.Hilditch

Michael Clarke issue - l knew that he was not playing but was shocked to see him play! Let him be rested for team is good.
Ponting lost the match to South Africa, Ange. Ponting took a full time bowler, Cameron White, in the team but never gave him the ball though he gave away 10 overs to part time bowlers - Clarke & David Hussey. Somehow, l get this feeling that Punter or his wife or his nearby relatives had betted that Australia would lose the match. He had no business to give bowling to part-timers when full time bowler is wanting the ball. Australia was winning the match 4 overs before the close & see what happened. If only Cameron White had bowled his quota, Australia would be one up in the series.
Silly captaincy of Ponting. Earlier, he did this to Brett Lee when he tossed the cherry to Mike Hussey.
