One pf the strange explanation that was given was he has made his centuries against weaker sides. He happens to have the most centuries & the highest test score(a 2 runs behind his best) against the World No 1 team. What do we infer?

the icc has the weirdest method of calculation of the ranking system.it is terribly flawed and needs to b changed immediately.it is not only the case of tendulkar ,even a player like bracken who has not played for the last 1 year is in top of d ratings which makes no sense,as long as braken does not retire he will remain in the top spot ,which is bull shit.sachin is the greatest ever batsman to have played the game and he definitely deserves a place in the top 10 at least.

l disagree with ICC he is the leading test run scorer has got maximum test centuries and one day centuries and many more for me he is rank 1 or 2 after sir don ok may be thats my thought if not 1 or 2 at least in the top 10

The ICC ranking leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve often found conventional wisdom as tending to be equally bad, if not worse. Any ranking involving any player apart from Bradman is bound to be controversial.

Who wants a rating for over 100 years or more. l do not wish to rate a 1896 player with a 2008 specialist. The game was cricket but the rules were different, equipment etc changed over time. So please do not compare.

Cricket as any other sports should only organize tournaments to check which of the teams win against all other teams. Who is the player of that match or that tournament. That is all required.

We r currently playing it based on Nationality, & if IPL were to flourish soon the Nationality criteria will fade, we will have a pool of players & teams which play against each other to develop cricket & bring the best of talent to limelight.

Sir Bradman never faced what Tendulkar faced on the pitch what is the use of ratings? Even comparing Tendulkar & Hayden who wants this comparison. We wish to know only whether Tendulkar can handle a new bowler is arsenal or Murali is innovative bowling. Or is he still having the swiftness & deftness of touch to counter Bret Lee or Morkel. Who is capable of taking Hayden is wicket if India or Pakistan is to play against Australia today. This is what we want. Look for each game as a competitive one. These ratings just fool us.

Who likes to watch a match when we already have in our mind Bangladesh cannot beat Australia theoritically. We do not want intimidation of players or what they were once worth & what a player is up against. What is the point in competitive series like this? Every individual is to be trained to tackle every other opponent, only then Bangladesh vs Australia when played in West Indies will fetch crowds.

Lets not be doing only Tendulkar vs Ponting. Its Tendulkar who faces Lee & Ponting who faces Zaheer at the highest level. So the pressure they r in varies & talent pited against them on field varies. Just we need the team combination that wins that day. So throw these ratings & start padding up & bowling u can be one better player than being a rated player especially in cricket.

ICC is nothing but International Committee of Clowns. So what do you expect?
It is not only about Sachin. Lara is missing from Top 20 and so is Dravid. Akram is missing from bowling list. And even Sri Lankans will agree that Jayasuriya and Arvinda deserve better place than Sangakkara. Gilly is at No. 30 in ODI. And we all thought ICC had no sense of humour!
