NSW paceman Aaron Bird wasnt allowed to wear his nickname 'flu' on the back of his top in the 20/20 tournament because KFC were the sponser. Mark Waugh was nicknamed 'Afganistan' as in 'the forgotten Waugh (war)' which is a good pun seeing as he played second fiddle to his broher. Other less interesting ones include Mr Cricket (Mike Hussey for his meticulous preperation) Pup (Michael Clarke since being the youngest in the team), Bing(a) (Brett Lee after Bing Lee), Pidgeon (Glenn McGrath for his demeanour), Dizzy (Jason Gillespie after a famous organised crime boss, Sarfraz (Stuart Clarke, l think after a type of tree) & Roy (Andrew Symonds after former rugby league player Royce Simmonds)

Just clarifying a few nicknames given by Max E;
Safraz for Stuart Clark - because he has the same sort of deadly accuracy as Sarfraz Nawaz who played for Pakistan in the 70's.
Roy for Andrew Symonds - after Roy Rene, an Australian comedian of the early 1900 is who used to put on black polish on his face with white lips in his acts just like Andrew Symonds does on the cricket field (suncream on his lips).
Dizzy for Jason Gillespie - after the jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie
Pidgeon for Glenn McGrath - when he first started up McGrath was so skinny it looked like he had pidgeon legs.

Always thought 'Afghanistan' for Mark Waugh was a good one. 'Tugga' for brother Steve also most appropiate.

l liked the nickname of Johnny Doughlas abbrevation ( JWHT Doughlas ) he was a boxer and a cricketer.As an untiring fast-medium bowler and obdurate batsman who was nicknamed with a play on his initials: ''Johnny Wo not Hit Today'' by Australian hecklers.
Other names l liked were - R.S Dravid - The great wall of India, Harbhajan Singh - The Turbanator, Inzamam ul Haq - The sultan of Multan, Romesh kaluwithrana - The little dynamite, Shoaib Malik - The terminator.
