l like to think it will be our own Phil Hughes ( a NSW player ) who has been getting more runs than our top order batsmen this season. But that would not be a hard task the way they are batting lately.
Edit: vsssarma, Brad Hodge is around Sachin is age & is not a newcomer! He will never be another Sachin because he is not good enough to get into our team now.

Veeru Sehwag..
the moment sachin retires this guy will take over.. reason : Bowlers are scared from him, he score over 20+ straight away the 1st over he faces. he can dent any bowlers confidence right from the begning. and if he stays on the crease you guys know : 2 triple hunderds, in 15 overs score can fly towards 120 above area in a one day match.
Bottom Line : Sehwag is obvious next Sachin or you can say Indian team has 2 Sachins Currently.

Has not Sachin been a bit of an underachiever with the bat, last 10 years or so.Do you mean the next Lara or Ponting

If our selectors ever open their eyes and give Phil Hughes a go, he could well be the next ''Tendulkar''.
And a Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year to you to Ravii.

l have a nice answer, but i'm not sure many people know about this person.
His name is Cheteshwar Pujara. India have not utilized him yet, but the potential he shows in the Ranji trophy & other domestic matches, is unparalleled. This makes me wonder why India is not using him.
He was U-19 is highest scorer making 349 runs at an average of 116. As a matter of fact, in the U-14 level, he made a triple-century!! In U-19 level, he made 211 against England. In his second first-class match, he made 145.
''In the World Cup, his 97 against West Indies & unbeaten 129 against England - an almost faultless one-day innings - took him to the top of the run-charts, past his big-scoring team-mates Gaurav Dhiman & Rohit Sharma.''
As a matter of fact, in the recent Ranji trophy, he did not make ONE triple-century, not two, BUT THREE TRIPLE-CENTURIES!
l really think if India let him come onto the national scene, he is going to become the next Sachin.
Do not forget him.he is got potential
(by the way.he was signed into Kolkata Knight Riders too)

There r batsmen of the level of Sachin in test matches. They are: Richie Richardson, Colin Milburn, Jacques Kallis, Vivian Richards, Dave Houghton, Eddy Barlow, Roshan Shodhan, William Brown, Graham Gooch, Mark Richardson, Clyde Walcott & Inzamam-ul-Haq.
It is possible that such class of batsmen can emerge.
The batting of Sangakkara, Md. Yousuf, Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, Mike Hussey, Ricky Ponting & Graeme Smith is a notch higher than that of Sachin Tendulkar.
Amongst the new comers, l am impressed with the batting of Tim McIntosh (NZL), Jesse Ryder (NZL), Brendan Nash (WI), BSM Warnapura (SRL), & Brad Hodge (Aus), not to speak of our own present batsmen - Dravid, Sehwag & Gambhir.
But who can start his career at 16? This is impossible to predict.

Mahela and,.Sangakkara~comes first to my mind It is inevitable that such class of batsmen can emerge.
The batting of Sangakkara, Md. Yousuf, Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, Mike Hussey, Ricky Ponting and Graeme Smith is a not that differ than of Tendulkar. Hope it helped

'' Sachin Tendulkar'' is a lord of the cricket. l think Sachin Tendulkar is the only one n No one would relace him because he had achieved lots of record which never break by any batsman.

Pietersen, he is consistent, can dominate the opposition or any bowlers. still it takes lot of consistency to reach the level of ''sachin''

In means of record holder . May be Gambhir , Marsh( Aussie who plays in IPL from Punjab team).
But no one can match Sachin. means He is true Gentleman , Humble , one the great batsman , a kind heart personality.
What do u think can any one have all these qualities. or in near future any one would be like that

Mark my word, there is no one like Tendulkar and no one is going to dominate both forms of the game as the little master did. But in test matches, l think Cheteshwar Pujara has the temperament to scale newer heights.

Graeme Smith, who is now 27,already has 4 double tons and 18 test centuries Has potential He started at 21 His idol was Sachin
But he has to improve his run scoring rate(runs/innings) In ODIs he has to improve even more It is not so easy, becoming another Sachin.

No one I've seen Pujara from close-quarters. l do not think he has the required temperament to be 'the next Sachin'. Infact, l do not think any of the players from present lot have it in them to match God is geniuses. Sachin is unique, he is in league of his own. But if your question was ''Who will be the next Ponting you'd get more .

It will be very difficult to find another Sachin. That is why l pray his retirement should come as late as possible.
