recently: surprise defeat of Pakistan in the World Cup against Ireland & muder of Pakistan is head coach Bob Woolmer straight after match has risen some speculation. You can read about this in detail in a novel ''Raffles & the Match-Fixing Syndicate' by Adam Corres.

Edit: Ankur has good list of players. l did not know so many were banned because of match fixing.

Yes, its a scandle in which CRICKETERS taking amount from bukies against which they r promising to give informatoin of pitch,team selection,promise to do something which is favourable or profitable to bukies.

It was the worst scandal to have rocked the cricketing world. Matches were thrown in return for financial favours. Huge amounts were betted for results, composition of the team, toss, how many 4s and 6s will be hit etc. Though there is no conclusive evidence the main king pins were Mohammed Ashraddin, Hansie Cronja, Salimj Malik, Ajay Jadeja, Nayan Mongia etc. There were some minor players like Gibbs, Mark Waugh etc.

Why, it was there even in India. Manoj Prabhakar kept his mouth shut till it was convenient for him. Azharuddin did it so surreptiously that till the pandora is box was opened, he did not come out. Ajay Jadeja sneaked through it. Due to Manoj is indiscretion, Kapil was exposed & he was made to cry on BBC.
If u just think of how Pakistan won the OD l against India in Sharjah with Javed Miandad hitting a six off the last ball, u will know all about match fixing. Can there be a better illustration than this?

One of the biggest scandals was that of Hansie Cronje, the SA captain. he accepted bribes from bookmakers to influence the outcome of games.
