Simply going from your stats it seems that Graham WILL be the number one test scorer in the world by Ricky is age. If he stays in form and plays enough games he may very well be the next top run scorer. However, you need to take into account any injuries he may suffer and any form slumps he may have to battle through. You never know, a young bloke may pop up and be better that Graham and he could get dropped. Unlikely but completely possible. Dont count your chickens!!!

Sachin Tendulkar is still going great guns. It appears, he is going to leav a legacy for the generations to come saying catch me up guys.

Will he do it?- Umm.. very very tough. Do you know how many runs Tendulkar had in bank when he was 27?
l once expected Tendulkar to score 17000-18000 test runs and 20,000 odi runs.
Bad phase will most definitely come in your career. See how many runs Dravid is scoring now,

yes, If he goes, at this rate he might beat Tendulkar, but the real question is can he keep going at this rate, till he is 35?

It depends how long each player decides to play, Tendulker wo not be kicked out of the Indian side so could potentially play a few more years yet (look at Jayasuriya, almost 40 and still scoring good runs). You also forget that Ricky ponting himself has many years left

If you go by averages and assume each player plays until the same age, then l would say Ponting will end with more since he is averaging 58 to Tendulkers 51 and Smiths 50.

Yes l reckon he can. The amount of games he has played, he could get 17000-18000 thousand runs when he retires if he keeps a good steady run scoring rate.

l do not think that Smith can become the highest run scorer in test cricket
as he may not be able to hold on to his position in the team till the age of 35 years.

Purely to go by the numbers if Tendulker, assuming, retires at 38 he might have scored 15000 runs is my gut feeling.Smith, a consistent batsman, playing till the age of 38, assuming, and scoring at the rate of 1000 runs per year would have crossed Tendulker.Yes, Smith can aspire to be the highest ever run scorer when he retires only if he can maintain his batting average at 50.
