l cant say who is the best in World at present but l can tell u the best of all time and his name is Sir Donald Bradman.

Ricky Ponting has a better Test average than Sachin Tendulkar. He also gets out less frequently & scores a century every 5.78 innings in test matches versus Tendulkar is every 6.3 innings.
He also hits sixes more frequently.
Ponting is first class statistics r also better than Tendulkar's, where he has scored 70 hundreds & 78 fiftys from 376 innings & while Tendulkar has scored an outstanding 97 fiftys from 400 innings, he has scored just 66 hundreds.
Tendulkar appears to have the stats when it comes to ODIs but he does bat down the order a bit in those when the fielding restrictions have been lifted. How many fiftys would Ponting have scored if he batted at four or five? How high would his strike rate be then? How would Tendulkar go if he always batted at first drop?

Sachin Tendulkar is definitely the best Indian batsman but Ricky Ponting is the best in the world.

l only compared players currently up to the task of playing test cricket now. Not yesterday or last year or last century.


When u combine their test stats with their one-day stats they r amazingly even.
Ponting is combined average is 48.97 with a frequency of 8.06 innings per century.
Tendulkars combined average is 48.06 & scores a century every 8.05 innings.
And anyway .. the five day game is not called test cricket for no reason. One day cricket only partially examines a batsman.

As per the present form a batsman , Mike Hussey is the best,he is good on all types of wickets, all types of bowlers and all forms of cricket,tests and odi.His batting average of 60 plus in tests is next only to Bradman at present.

Currently Sachin Tendulkar. If he retires, it is going to be Pieterson, it would have been better if he played for South Africa, England is a really weak side. A talent like KP is being wasted.
